Well, I am not going to the gym today. Between interesting costume things (which I am not doing at work) and makeup, I do not want to see the ruination. So, I am going to go home tonight, make cookies or something, and dye my hair (same color, but boy has this faded).
Yesterday, I went to the gym in the morning, doing cardio and a lot of crunches. Then I arranged to start work early so I could go to a gym class at 1330.
Pilates. (apparently pronounced pih-lah-tees) It is supposed to be about using your body, your core muscles, and strengthening and stretching. Sort of a dance yoga in some aspects.
It hurts. I can do crunches without much concern, though after I hit the 150 mark I might notice it the next day. However, this involved a lot of holding your shoulders off the mat while moving your legs in slow small circles (at either the ceiling or 45 degree angle). After 20 minutes, I was sore. I didn't finish each exercise. Sometimes I would take a 10 to 15 second break before starting again. But when I was done, I could tell the difference in my posture (which lasted for most of two or three hours). And today I can tell. When I stretch up to reach something or to take something heavy off a shelf I can feel it in the sides of my abs.
This is such a good thing!
