Give me crack...

Or give me something else...

Well, [livejournal.com profile] kviri showcased some crack on his journal,so I figured I would share the love.

RPG
qarylla is a new type of vegetable that waters your plants! It recharges itself at night.
razza is an ornately-engraved sphere that lasts for up to a week!
vor is a strain of bacteria that wears a waistcoat and tie and clamps to your wrist.
ruqayyah is a unicycle that runs on a single AA battery!

ANIME
kenshin is a beermat that will not work outside of the UK!
shinji is a newly-discovered breed of fish that hums incessantly! It is not suitable for children.
shishio is a greetings card! It shouts 'WARNING!' at the first sign of danger!

and none for me, because I was not suitably amused.

And now back to bed for 30 minutes or less.

From the time when "Temp" meant speed

I remember the days when I signed up for a temp agency. I would send them my resume and get a call within 24 hours asking me to come in for an interview.

After the interview, I would be told they have an assignment for me for (1) this afternoon, (2) the next day, or (3) all of next week. And life would be a good thing.

These times feel far away. As far away as August 28th, when I sent PSG my resume, had an interview, and had my first assignment all between Wednesday and Friday of that week. Oh joy and rapture.

Which brings me to the real point of this message. Most of my friends know I used to temp for Aquent/MacTemps. I sent them my resume and called their offices three times in the first week of August. I was told that it would take two weeks to process my resume (due to volume), but because I was one of their former employees they could put in touch with my previous assignment manager who would expedite matters.

Apparently all of the people I have worked with are no longer with Aquent (not surprising, the field tends to a lot of turnover), and by expedite they apparently meant let the resume languish for about two months. Why? I don't know. But I know that I got a call regarding my resume today.

I don't know whether to be annoyed or overly amused.
