Writing shtuff
19 November 2002 01:19This month is the National Novel Writers Month. The goal for the participants of the Nanowrimo as it is called is to write a novel of 50,000 words (yes, that is only about 100 pages) over the month of November.
I knew I wanted to do this at the beginning of the month, and then I developed a life outside of gaming. I find I am spending the next two weeks playing catch up.
This ties into my little comment yesterday about productivity. I usually write for quality not quantity, and the Nanowrimo exercise is really about being a productive writer by writing massive amounts of words and then editing them in December.
Unfortunately for me, I need to learn how to write without editing. I am used to editing each paragraph for hours, sometimes days, before considering it at optimal quality. I am a good copy editor, but it doesn't make it easier to write myself.
And then there is my other problem. Length. I write short stories normally. Piffle. The next two weeks are bound to be exciting (so if I am extra distracted, you will know why).
