The Accidental Taxi or Cab 246 Where Are You

After rehearsal last night, meranthi and I decided we were going to catch the No 1 bus, not having enough time to make the 91 by walking. We were waiting in front of the infinite corridor, when a taxi driver, having picked up its fare, pulled a U-ey and hit a bicyclist. The guy on the bicycle got off and walked his bike to the curb where he spent a bit of time examining the wheel. The cab completed its U turn and stopped briefly shouting something out the window that was not very audible from where we were. The cab sped off.

I went over to the bicyclist with meranthi to see how he was doing. He pulled his leg out of the way, so he was fine. But his bike had a broken brake and the back wheel was definitely wobbling. I gave him the cab number, but we couldn't remember which cab company it is. (We think it was Ambassador cab), and he went home to call it in.

All in all, the trip home was much more exciting than it should have been.

Losing my frustrations

I have become over the past week or two more and more frustrated with work. It's not what I am doing or who I am working with. What has been leaving me frustrated is the environment in which I am working.

I am just enough behind that I am working in squallor, which if I take time to clean it up makes me more behind. Being behind, in turn, makes my work area messier faster. This wouldn't be an issue in any of my old jobs, but my job here requires a lot of space. When all I was doing was filing a single counter and a single shelf were terrific. But with the mail processing, I want more space to work with. I want to be able to have a clean area to work in without needing to reorganize all of the materials I am working with on a sometimes hourly basis.

This has left me snippish all week. I will be working on something and someone will bring things to put on my desk and I proceed to have a little freakout. The careful organization I had for my filings is almost completely destroyed.

So, I am busy trying to finish my catch up process today, so I can clean my desk completely tomorrow. Unfortunately, I seem to get behind every Monday and slowly get caught up by the end of the work week.

In a way this is funny, because I am not a neat person or even that highly organized, but in this one location I want high amounts of order and cleanliness. Go figure.
