intrinsic vs. ascetic
I wonder where this concept came from. I have seen several people here
comment on the ascetic. I know it seems to be some kind of focus in
parts of the Goth world, and I have never understood that. It is not the
ascetic vs. the intrinsic. They are inseparable. The ascetic choices we
make are based on who we are.
This made me giggle way too much this morning (I am very tired, but it would have made me giggle anyway). The idea of an ascetic Goth, who gives up their drink (absinthe et al) and showers the populace with black lace and pvc while wearing the simplest of black woolen sacks is just visually appealing.
