Searching for recommendations

I would like to try voice lessons, but despite Ruddigore I don't have a clear idea of what I need or what environment would work best for me. I like singing, but I hate being the timid voice that is usually off key in the back.

Does anyone have any recommendations about lessons and the price I could expect to pay?

My voice teacher, Cristi Catt, was recommended to me by 2 friends, and she's *terrific* at building voices in a healthy way--bringing out the sound without forcing, using support & resonance. I have made great strides with her. She's also $40/hour. The only drawback: she's on tour a great deal.
