Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] z_gryphon. More June people! Rar!

Yesterday was the dinner. A relatively light salad with homemade dressing, a chilled cucumber soup that uses curry powder (which I had to make myself, because I am apparently out of curry powder but have all the requisite spices in stock), and my first risotto comprised the dinner. Unsurprisingly the item that went over best was the garlic bread. I have never really had someone say that the garlic bread is bad and nearly every time someone wants seconds of it. Too bad I hadn't made two loaves.

Dessert was cookies brought by nav and enoch, and an ice cream bombe that I made earlier in the day.

Now making an ice cream bombe is actually pretty easy (though next time I will make all of the ice creams involved). I took Friendly's French vanilla ice cream and softened it in the fridge. I then lightly sprayed a bowl with pam-type shtuff to make the ice cream come out more easily and created a vanilla ice cream bowl in the real bowl (prosthetic?). I let that refreeze overnight and the next morning I made raspberry sorbet. I really could have used some cheesecloth, because there were a bit more seeds than I normally like. I ran it through the ice cream maker and then spooned it into the bowl and let freeze for 4 hours. After that time I topped with some of the remaining vanilla (so it was a vanilla half circle with a raspberry center). There wasn't that much sugar in the sorbet. Less than called for in the Ben & Jerry's sorbet recipe. Made with an orange sherbet type dessert it would make a very nice creamsicle dessert. Not too hard and relatively low mess. The best thing is that you can make this with any two ice cream flavors from the supermarket as easily as you can make it with ice cream made at home.

Clean up from dinner mostly consisted of wiping down a few counters and putting all of the dishes in the dishwasher to run overnight. Today we will vacuum cheerios off the carpet as Saru-chan doesn't want to eat them.

No, no, no! The going rate for stupid human tricks is $0.50. If you give them more than that then they start to get uppity.

Friends don't let friends overpay on stupid human tricks.
